ANTIQUE AND CLASSIC RESTORATION TOUR

!

At least forty die hard motor heads (men and women) showed up for Linea Shoberg's tour of Eric Rosenau 's shop where world class restorations of some premium marques take place.  We met Eric's son Carl and his son-in-law/"right hand" - Bill Sandvik.

A variety of cars under restoration and near completion were in the shop as well as numerous other cars all over the 4 acre property.  Eric has a  1962  330 Ferrari 2+2 and son Carl has a 1972 365 GTB 12 cylinder 6 carburetor Ferrari in his garage. (Carl built the house on his Dad's property when he was single which explains why the 2 story structure 1st floor is all garage and can accommodate 12 cars and other toy's!!)

We had to hold Bob Halgren back as he was trying to figure out where he could find a spread like Eric's (easy boy!!)

Next we drove through the back country down the beautiful Highland Valley Road traveling through Ramona to  Allen and Beth Schmidt's Brass Era Restoration Shop and the Restoration Supply Company. We understand several vehicles and buildings were lost in the fire that spread through the back country a few years ago.   However, the business today looks like it is a smoothly functioning complete operation.

It is easy to see why many of the cars perpared at these two establishments have placed at Pebble Beach and other important shows across the country.

Enjoy the photos from the tour and thanks Linea!!

Eric and Carl Rosneau and Bill Sandvik with their Hispano Suiza.  The body was recarated from 1/5 scale drawings obtained from the Hispano Suiza Files.  Full size scale drawings were done by Nissan Design after a small clay scale model was created.  Bucks were formed and the all aluminum body was hand formed.  Magnificent true craftsmanship is alive!!
Hey dad, don't forget the oars and the life preserver!!!

Check out that horn.  This Hispano Suiza is right hand drive

Hey Mimi I am thinking a place like this would work out just fine !Whaddya think??)
Has anybody seen Tiko? ((oops we left him at home!!)

CARS CARS CARS AND MORE CARS
ABOUT 40 PEOPLE JOINED THE FESTIVITIES

Quite a turn out on a fantastic day in Ramona!!

EARLY PIERCE ARROW UNDERGOING GROUND UP RESTORATION (NOW YOU KNOW WHY THEY CALL IT GROUND UP!!!)

LOTS OF GREAT AND NECESSARY TOOLS IN THE SHOP
HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO CHANGE THIS WHEEL??
Here is the wheel well for the dual side mount spares.  These wheels must weigh a few hundred pounds... Think they had road side service back in the 30"s??

My personal favorite was this Dueesnberg.  The craftsmanship inside and out makes this truly a rolling work of art.

Terry Wooster having a good time as usual
This 1913 Pierce Arrow had an 825 cc 6 cylinder engine !! Wow (I thought my 429 CI Ford Thunderbird was a Big Block)

Notice the Alfa Romeo sign> both Eric and his son Carl like Italian Cars.
They both have Ferraris and Alfa Romeos.

Looks like Al Capone's car
NECESSARY AUTOMOBILE YARD ART

Eric's personal cars are not all American Antiques> Check out the Ferrari and Alfa Romeo   > Loved by the family cat!

Here we are at the Schmidt's Restoration Services.  The shop and machinery are fantastic.  Body, paint shop, mechanicals, upholstery and fabrication is all done right here..Even period correct wicker baskets.
